Puppy-Lovin

It has been far too long since I last submitted, but better late than never I always say. Sometimes it takes deep exploration to find love and what better place than in the city? I hope you enjoy this.

Minted – Frankie’s Laboratory

Here is my latest Minted entry, done just under the wire. I’m really happy with this illustration as I think it showcases just about everything I enjoy doing within an illustration. I hope you will go and vote for it here: http://www.minted.com/design-rating/65515 and don’t forget to go and vote for others as well while you’re there!

Willie The Pig

As a bit of back story, the city I live in acquired several statues last year for our downtown. One in particular received a lot of attention for better or worse. It was the statue of a red pig, a sow actually, affectionately dubbed Willie the Red Pig. A few days ago, that statue was stolen in broad daylight and is valued at $6000 so her return could result in a felony offense. The day before this happened I was tasked with creating a cartoon of “Willie” for an events poster that will be used to highlight events to take place from summer through the Christmas season. I wasn’t sure if I should continue to draw her, but my love of drawing animals prevailed and I just went for it. If they choose to use her or not, I’ve done what I set out to do and I’m loving her already! We miss you Willie, please come home soon. 😦

Penny The Pickle.

From my daughters story, here is Penny the Pickle in full color. On a side note, I lost my job yesterday, one in which I left a perfectly fine job for but after only 3 weeks, 3 days per week they told me yesterday that it “wasn’t working out.” I’m a little dumbfounded but my solution at least for a time is to see if I can’t make a go of this illustration thing. Any feedback for my work would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking. 🙂

In A Pickle.

Not really, just working on a project with my 8 year old daughter. She wrote a really cute story about a community of pickles. Below are the start of characters, a brother and sister name Penny and Pete! Hopefully rendering these digitally very soon. Thanks for looking.

New Family – Dad

I’m working on some character designs for my little family I’m creating. The father character is modeled after my own dad, loosely. You see I grew up with a father who looks like a biker but dresses like a golfer which is kind of a funny dynamic. There will be a little bit of many people I know in my characters in the future as well. Please let me know what you think of dad. Thanks for looking!

IF – Vocal

I was totally inspired by the first episode of this seasons Mad Men and Megan’s rendition of Zou Bisou Bisou. Couldn’t get that song out of my head for days and now you can enjoy it once again. Thanks for looking!

IF – Return

UPDATED – in color. It’s meh. Not feeling like it looks good, but not every one is winner now is it?

So, it’s Spring and with that comes the return of baseball! I’ve started this illustration as an all girl team. So far they are just line work, but hopefully by tomorrow they will be in full color! Thanks for looking.

IF – Swamp

I wanted to do something that was more character like this time and do another animal. I don’t know if this image is done, but wanted to convey a silly side of what swamp could be. Thus was born “Swamp Life” three lovely amphibians enjoy a soak in the sun on their lily pads. Thanks for looking!

IF – Shades

This week shades brought to mind an entirely different image after my dad suddenly needed immediate medical attention. To make a long story short, we all became aware of an impending heart problem and subsequently he received a pacemaker today. He is doing amazingly well and already feels so much better. I can see shades of myself in  both of my parents and have learned over the last 3 days just how much I love the both of them. Thanks for looking this week. ❤
